Vigo County Fair Announces Grandstand Entertainment

The Wabash Valley Fair Association announced the grandstand entertainment schedule for the 2008 Vigo County Fair.  The announcement was made at the media night reception June 16th at the fairgrounds.  This year’s fair is set for July 6th through the 12th at the Wabash Valley Fairground facilities on US 41 South in Terre Haute.  Three event nights will feature tickets for just $5. 

The grandstand entertainment will start with the Lucus Oil Pro Pulling League – Truck and Tractor Pulls opening day Sunday July 6th at 7pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and children 12 and under are $7.

Monday July 7th and Thursday July 10th will feature Demolition Derby competitions at 7pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and children 12 and under are $7.  Tuesday July 8th will be a new event at the fair with the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Show produced by the Illiana Rangers.  Fans will enjoy authentic 1900’s dressed cowboys showing off their shooting skills.  All tickets are only $5 and the show will begin at 7pm.

Nearly 100 people attended two audition nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Terre Haute to compete for the title of Wabash Valley Idol.    Voting is currently going on now online to narrow the field from 35 down to 10.  The event is sponsored by local radio station B 102.7 and audition videos and voting can be viewed at www.b1027fm.com.  The top ten finalist will compete on Wednesday July 9th in the Grandstand at 7pm.  All tickets are only $5.  This winner will receive $500 and an expense paid trip to the nearest American Idol audition site. 

Friday July 11th will be Monster Trucks produced by Amp Live Entertainment.  The show will begin at 7pm.  Four monster trucks including the General Lee, T-Max and Quadzilla will be on hand.   Tickets are $12 for adults and children 12 and under are $8.

The fair will end with a Motocross Race Saturday, July 12th on the track.  Racing will begin at 7pm with all tickets are $5.

Tickets to all the grandstand events will be sold at the fairgrounds ticket office the week of the fair July 6th – July 12th.  A complete schedule of activities is available at the new website for this years fair www.vigofair.com.   The website also highlights 4H activities and discount carnival ride specials.


About the Vigo County Fair:  The Vigo County Fair takes place one week in July each year to support the Vigo County 4-H program and offer carnival rides, grandstand entertainment and commercial exhibit space along with other various events and attractions throughout the week.  2008 will be the 79th anniversary of the Vigo County Fair sponsored by Ivy Tech.  The Wabash Valley Fair Association, Inc. manages and operates the fairground’s facilities.
